Wesley Burriesci

Owner and Head Instructor

Wesley Burriesci is the Owner and Head Instructor of San Diego Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. A lifelong grappler, he began teaching martial arts at 13 years old and has spent more than a decade helping children and adults build confidence, resilience, and discipline through wrestling, judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

A graduate of Cal State San Marcos with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development, Wesley combines high-level martial arts instruction with a deep understanding of how children learn and develop. He is an IBJJF Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and USA Judo Black Belt, and has trained under world-class wrestlers, judoka, and jiu-jitsu practitioners throughout his career.

Wesley’s journey at SDBJJ began as a student and staff member willing to do whatever was needed to help the academy succeed. Years later, he became the owner of the school he proudly calls home. Today, his mission is to create an environment where students of all ages can develop confidence, character, and lifelong friendships while pursuing excellence on and off the mats.

His goal is not only to create better martial artists, but stronger families, confident young leaders, and successful adults.

Antonio Marzan

With over 14 years of experience in Boxing and Muay Thai and a Purple Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, Antonio brings a wealth of MMA knowledge and passion to every class.

Here’s what he has to say:

“I am very family oriented. If we aren’t at the gym training together, we are spending time doing something active. As much as we strive to stay consistent with our best choice of habits, I really enjoy our cheat meals or snacks with movie nights. As a father, I do my best to instill good principles in our home so that we can do our best to impact others. I began training in Boxing in 2012, and by 2013 I stepped into the ring for my first amateur match. Since then, I’ve competed in Boxing, Muay Thai MMA, and Jiu-Jitsu.

What I love most about martial arts is not only the technical side but also the mental growth it brings. Training has taught me discipline, resilience, and problem-solving skills that carry far beyond the gym. It’s also been a way to bring my family closer together while connecting me with incredible people in the community.

As a coach, my passion is helping others grow. Whether that’s building confidence, improving technique, or pushing past personal limits. The ultimate goal is to use martial arts to help others grow just as it has done for me.“

Come try one of Antonio’s boxing classes and see how much he brings to the gym firsthand!
